This is CACTUS FLOWERS by Frank Lee Hawkins.
It’s from the spring super bloom of 2019. Vast areas of the high desert became alive with vibrant colors. I was so captivated by the magnitude of the event, seeing more desert plants flowering than I had ever seen before, that I took most of May off that year to capture and experience as much of it as possible.
Over the years, I’ve taken time to think about and put my finger on just what it is that I like when viewing a landscape scene. Sometimes I’ll bring a portable chair to just sit there for a while and just be there experiencing the place. Then later, back at my studio in the artwork, I will emphasize parts of it and try to convey what it feels like to be there as well as express my idealized way of seeing and remembering it.
This artwork is a Limited Edition of 21 ready to hang, signed 16″ x 20″ x 1.25″ thick premium canvas prints with a numbered COA signed HAWK affixed to the back.
