This artwork is of Emerald Bay viewed from an overlook at Lake Tahoe, from about 1000 feet above the bay. It is another contemporary landscape impressionist artwork by Frank Lee Hawkins.
This one took a tremendous amount of time and effort. You will notice the subtle addition of some flowing wispy clouds. The sky in this is part of the evolution of my art.
Over the years I’ve taken time to think about and put my finger on just what it is that I like when viewing a landscape scene. Sometimes I’ll bring a portable chair to just sit there for a while and just be there experiencing the place. Then later back at my studio in the artwork I will emphasize parts of it and try to convey what it feels like to be there as well as express my idealized way of seeing and remembering it.
