June Lake is located in the June Lake Loop on Hwy 158. This iconic point of view, overlooking June Lake with Carson Peak in the background is how most people remember it. It’s the scene they wait to see after a long drive to get here. This really called to me to do an artwork that captures the essence of it. Over the years I’ve taken time to think about and put my finger on just what it is that I like when viewing a landscape scene. Sometimes I’ll bring a portable chair to just sit there for a while and just be there experiencing the place. Then later back at my studio in the artwork I will emphasize parts of it and try to convey what it feels like to be there as well as express my idealized way of seeing and remembering it.
