LEE VINING CANYON’S MISTY CASCADES

This is LEE VINING CANYON’S MISTY CASCADES by Frank Lee Hawkins. This cascade / waterfall, with its beautiful cold clean water, flows through these multi-hued rocks and lays out white flowing patterns that fan out into its misty pools. At certain times there are shafts of light that artistically enhance the scene, ever-changing over time from one type of beauty to the next. I try to convey what it feels like to be there as well as express my idealized way of seeing and remembering it.

This view of it really called to me to do an artwork that captures the essence of it. The Tioga Pass is awesome. Down in the canyon, I fish or do some photos in this little area that is dreamlike beautiful, often with a mix of giant billowing clouds and sunshine.
